Sirius Black Escapes
Sometime in July of 1993, Sirius Black, a convinced murderer, escaped from Azkaban Prison, a maximum security wizard prison. We later find out he escaped because he was secretly an animagus and he slipped past the guards and dementors by turning into a dog. -
Harry Potter's 13th Birthday
Harry turns 13 and Aunt Marge arrives at the Dursley's for a visit. -
The Knight Bus
Harry runs away from the Dursley's only to be picked up by the Knight Bus, a triple decker magical bus. The Knight Bus takes him to the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley where he meets Cornelius Fudge from the Ministry of Magic. Fudge checks him into a room at the inn. -

Diagon Alley
Harry spends the rest of his summer exploring Diagon Alley. He takes special notice to a new Firebolt broom displayed in the Quidditch Supplies window. -
Hogwarts Express
After meeting up with his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry boards the Hogwarts Express. On the way to Hogwarts, Harry finds himself losing consciousness because of the dementors. He also meets the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin. -
First Day Back
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are back at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They learn that their old friend Hagrid is now the Professor of Care of Magical Creatures. His first class goes wrong however, as his Hippogriff (named Buckbeak) injures Draco Malfoy. -
Sirius Black's Attack
The weekend of Halloween, the 3rd years and above are able to go to Hogsmeade. Harry can't go because his Uncle Vernon wouldn't sign his permission form, and they were trying to keep him safe from Black. That night however, Sirius Black managed to get on campus and attack the Fat Lady guarding the Gryffindor common room. The castle goes on lockdown, and everyone is required to sleep in the great hall. -
Substitute Snape and Quidditch Dementors
The students are told Professor Lupin is ill so Professor Severus Snape is their substitute teacher. He assigns them an unnecessary amount of homework. Harry has his first quidditch match of the season. It was supposed to be against Slytherin but it ended up being against Hufflepuff. During the match, dementors came onto the field and caused Harry to faint and Gryffindor to lose the match. Lupin returns at the start of the next week. -
The Marauder's Map
Another Hogsmeade trip is planned for the end of the term. This time, Harry has the Marauder's Map, given to him by Fred and George Weasley. He can use the map to see the secret passageways of Hogwarts. He uses it to get into Hogsmeade. It is here, where Harry overhears stories of Sirius Black. It turns out that Black is Harry's godfather. It is also claimed, that he supposedly betrayed Harry's parents and turned them over to Voldemort. We later learn this isn't what really happened... -
Buckbeak's Defense
The term ends and most of the students return home for the holidays. Hermione and Ron stay with Harry over the break however. They learn that Buckbeak, Hagrid's hippogriff, was scheduled to have a hearing in April. This was because of the incident where he injured Draco. Draco's father, Lucius Malfoy, had much influence on the school's governors. Lucius exploited his influence for his son, because Draco wanted Buckbeak dead and Hagrid fired. -
Christmas and the Firebolt
It's Christmas at Hogwarts and Harry receives a new Firebolt quidditch broom in the post. It wasn't signed and no one knew who it was from, but Hermione was suspicious. She told Professor McGonagall, and McGonagall confiscated the broom. Hermione and McGonagall were both suspicious it was from Sirius Black and cursed. -
The New Term Begins
The rest of the students return to Hogwarts and the second term of the school year begins. -
Return of the Firebolt
Harry gets his firebolt back. It was deemed safe by Professor McGonagall. That night however, Scabbers, Ron's pet rat, disappears. Crookshanks, Hermione's cat, is blamed and Ron and Hermione fight. -
Another Sirius Attack
Gryffindor wins another quidditch match, putting them closer to the house cup. That night, Neville Longbottom had lost a paper with the passwords to the Gryffindor common room. Sirius Black used those passwords to gain entry, and Ron woke up to find Sirius Black had torn his sheets with a knife. We later find he was looking for Ron's rat, Scabbers. -
Another Hogsmeade Visit
Buckbeak has his hearing in London, and it sentenced to death. Hagrid still has one last chance to appeal before the execution in June. Harry secretly visits Hogsmeade again, expect this time, he gets seen by Draco and turned in to Snape. Snape tries to take the Marauder's Map away from Harry, but he doesn't know what it is or how to work it. Professor Lupin takes it instead. -
Gryffindor Victory
Gryffindor wins their match against Slytherin 230 to 20 and wins the Quidditch Cup! -
Pettigrew Exposed Part 2
Now that Harry knows the truth about who betrayed his parents, he was determined to clear Black's name. Lupin and Snape show up as everything is being explained. Harry knocked Snape out because he refused to listen to Black's testimony. We also learn Lupin is a werewolf. With a bound Pettigrew and an unconscious Snape, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Lupin, and Black head back to the castle. Unfortunately, the dementors come to arrest Black, as that was the entire reason they were there. (2/4) -
Pettigrew Exposed Part 3
As the dementors were closing in, Harry tried used the Patronus spell, the only defense against Dementors. He was unsuccessful, and passed out. Waking up in the hospital wing not much later, he realized black had been caught and was about to be executed right there at Hogwarts. Hermione and Harry went back in time with Hermione's time-turner necklace. In the past, they were able to save Buckbeak. While watching the dementors close in on himself, Harry used the Patrons spell again. (3/4) -
Pettigrew Exposed Part 4
This time, Harry's Patronus became a stag, just like his father's. This time, the dementors were warded off just after Harry passed out. This way, there were no paradoxes (They didn't see themselves). Because Buckbeak had been saved, Black was able to escape by riding him away from Hogwarts. This caused Pettigrew to get away, but at least Black had been saved. (4/4) -
Pettigrew Exposed Part 1
Buckbeak is executed. After the execution, Harry, Ron, and Hermione try and get back to the castle, but Ron is attacked by a dog. This dog turns out to be Sirius Black. Black wasn't attacking Ron however, he was attacking his rat, Scabbers. Black tries to explain, but first he has to calm Harry and his friends down. They are convinced Black is a murder after all. We learn that Scabbers is actually a wizard named Peter Pettigrew. Pettigrew is the one truly responsible for Black's crimes. (1/4) -
The End
Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit Lupin after Black's escape. They find he resigned because people now knew he was a werewolf. On the train ride home, Harry receives a letter from Black. It confirmed that Black had sent the firebolt to Harry for Christmas. He told Harry to "consider it 13 years worth of birthday and Christmas presents". Black also sent Harry a signed permission slip for the Hogsmeade trips. Harry said his goodbyes to his friends, and another year at Hogwarts, had concluded.
