Theodore Roosevelt referred to as Teddy or was an American politician. He was also a soldier, conservationist, historian, naturalist, explorer, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States. During Roosevelt's presidency he signed laws that restricted who could immigrate to the United States. -
Ida Tarbell Publishes Her Article About Standard Oil
Her work was a sensation and the installments became a two volume book. It was entitled The History of the Standard Oil Company published in 1904. Tarbell meticulously documented the aggressive techniques Standard Oil employed to outmaneuver and where necessary roll over whoever got in its way. -

The 16th Amendment is Passed
Amendment Sixteen grants congress the authority to issue an income tax without having to determine it based on population. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes from whatever source derived without apportionment. This was among several States and without regard to any census or enumeration. -
The Empire State Building Opens
The Empire State Building was built to host corporate business offices. This was also the tallest building in the world. The building was also built during the great depression.
