Microsoft was formed as a company on April 4th, 1975. The first CEO was Bill Gates. -

The first company office was in Japan. It was called ASCII Microsoft. -
The Company Headquarter Moves
The first move of the company headquarters was from Albuquerque to Bellevue Washington. This was caused by the company not being able to find many programmers in New Mexico. -
First Operating System
The first operating system that Microsoft created was a variant of Unix and was distributed through a deal with AT&T and named it Xenix and hired Santa Cruz Operation to adapt it for several devices. It was announced on August 25, 1980. -
First Windows Operating System is released
Microsoft released their first version of Windows on November 20th 1985. It was originally just a graphical extension of MS-DOS. -
Microsoft Headquarters
From 1986 till today, Microsofts main Headquarter is located at One Microsoft Way, in Richmond Virginia. They moved into it initially on February 26th, 1986, only a few weeks before the company went public. -
Microsoft Releases Office
On August 8th, 1989 released Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office is comprised of multiple programs including Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Work, this was Microsofts most successful product. -

Internet explorer came out the same year as Windows 95 however it was not completed by the time Windows 95 came out, so it was bundled with Windows 95 Plus. This was the companies first dive into the world of browsers. -
Windows 95
This was released on August 24, 1995 and was the companies first dive into the world wide web. This operating system was included with a new feature called multi tasking which allowed the user to do multiple things at once. -
Windows XP
Windows XP was released on October 25, 2001. In march of 2004 the European Union took action against it citing it abused it dominate with the Windows OS, which resulted in a judgement of €490 million ($613 million) and Microsoft to release a new version of Windows XP without Media player. -
Microsoft Xbox
The Xbox was Microsoft's first dive into the world of consoles which was dominated by Playstation and Nintendo at the time. It was originally released on November 15th, 2001 in North America. -
Xbox 360 Is released
The Xbox 360 is the second installment in the Xbox series and was released on November 22, 2005. The Xbox 360 came with two options, the normal and the upgraded, each with a different price and specs. -

In June 27, 2008 Bill gates steps down from the position of CEO. He steps down to focus on philanthropy. -

Windows 7 was released on October 22, 2009. Windows 7 was released with the intent to Revise the features of Windows Vista and make it more easy to use. -

The first Microsoft Store opened up on the 22nd of October 2009. It was in Scottsdale, Arizona. -

Microsoft Got a new logo on August 23rd, 2012. It was made to be in memory of Windows 95. It was in Helectiva font and was featuring the iconic red, get, blue, and yellow squares. -

Windows 8 was released on October 26, 2012. It was the first Operating system from Microsoft that was for both Computer and Mobile. -

The Microsoft Surface is a computer that was released October 26th, 2012. It is the first computer that is fully made by Microsoft. -

The Xbox One was released on November 22, 2013. It was the predecessor to the Xbox 360. -
New CEO
On February 4th, 2014, Steve Ballmer stepped down from the position of CEO. He was succeeded by Satya Nadella who had previously led Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise division. -
Microsoft acquired Nokia
Microsoft acquired Nokia Devices and Services for $7.2 billion on April 25, 2014. They renamed the company Microsoft Mobile Oy. -
Microsoft gets Minecraft
Microsoft acquired the video game development company Mojang best known for Minecraft on September 15, 2014. It was a purchase that costed $2.5 billion. -
