Prenatal (Chapter 4)
There are three stages of labor
1. Uterine contractions progressing into full dilation of the cervix
2. Full dilation progressing into the baby's birth
3. Baby's birth progressing into expulsion of the placenta
However, some people are not able to give birth naturally so they are taken to have a cesarean delivery. -
Infancy (Chapter 5)
At this stage, reflexes, first habits, circular reactions, coordination of means and ends, experimentation with new means, and insight develop. Motor skills are crucial at this age because they are occurring for the first time.
Piaget's theory explains that the growth of intelligence during infancy is based on sensorimotor adaptation.
"From the very earliest days of life, infants use their reflexes to make contact with the environment." (P.g. 144) -
Toddlerhood (Chapter 6)
