Day 1 - Nate Slason
What: start/stop buttons; push buttons
How: NO/NC, switching to control something -
Day 2 - Nate Slason
where - production work; Torrington and Barkhamsted
what - bringing tools on production, looking at possible jobs. -
Day 3 - Nate Slason
What - Ice cube relay projects 1-4
Where - ice cube relays can be found in industrial applications, where automation is needed -
Day 4 - Nate Slason
What: two buttons to a control relay that controlled a light, added a maintaining relay after
Where: control relays can be used to control motors, where they would be found in industrial applications -
Day 5 - Nate Slason
What: Mike Holt unit 34, helped freshmen with projects
When: units 3 + 4 in the morning until 11, then freshmen for the rest of the day. -
Day 6 - Nate Slason
Where - contactors can be used in air conditioning, electric motors, and other high power applications
What - we wired contactors, and used them to power lights, in combination with motor starters -
Day 7 - Nate Slason
what: the first day of motor starters, we wired them to see if we could energize them
where: motor starters are used in any type of device that uses a motor -
Day 8 - Nate Slason
Where - motor starters can be found in various HVAC systems, where there are motors that need to be used.
When - second day of motor starters, we used them to power a light when energized -
Day 9 - Nate Slason
Where: emergency stops could be found in factories, where there would be a need for emergency stops for a machine if something went wrong.
What: motor starters with emergency stops to control a light, but have the entire project power off when the button is pressed. -
Day 10 - Nate Slason
where - motor controls are used in any industrial applications, where motors or machines need to be controlled
what - making and planning project boards to work on, so that everything is already on the board and we don't need to find the materials -
Day 11 - Nate Slason
where - selector switches can be used in factories, to run a machine, or a conveyor belt, etc.
what - selector switches, used to control a light without needing to wire a holding contact, we only used the two direction switches -
Day 12 - Nate Slason
where - ladder logic can be seen in any motor controls diagram, and also in PLC controls
what - motor controls ladder logic to understand how to read a ladder logic diagram and to learn how to wire a project off of it. -
Day 13 - Nate Slason
Where - Limit switches can be used in elevators to tell it when to start/stop moving
What - limit switches used to turn on lights/motors, along with contact relays for controls -
Day 14 - Nate Slason
where - time delay switches can be used in many places, one example is in home appliances to prevent from power surges
what - time delay switches wired to make a light or a motor turn on after a set time, added a second time delay switch for a second motor/light -
Day 15 - Nate Slason
What - we wired a motor controls project using an off delay switch, using it control a light/motor and have it delay going off when powered
where - off delay switches can be used to control the lighting in a room, where the lights only need to be on for a certain time -
Day 16 - Nate Slason
Where - In the shop, theory time
What - We worked on our PLC online assignment, there was a sub due to Mr T sick -
Day 17 - Nate Slason
Where - In the shop
What - we had a sub due to Mr T being sick, we took our Skills USA quiz, our Motor controls final, and our DSA -
Day 18 - Nate Slason
Where - PLCs are used in factories to automate systems to make things run smoother and faster
What - we watched videos to learn more about PLCs and how they function, and where they are used -
Day 19 - Nate Slason
Where - drum switches can be used in motor controls by swapping two of the phases to control a motor in reverse or forwards. What - we learned about drum switches and worked on the back wall in preparation to wire drum switches
