I remember in 1st grade and 2nd grade, my teachers would do "races" where the students would write as many consonants as possible. This paper is not mine but my cousins. It is similar to the type of explanation and lists that we would have to review and then make our own list. -
Popcorn reading
I included this activity because since 3rd grade and until high school, I can remember reading in the popcorn method and then even choosing the student to go next. Annotation keys
I included this because in 8th grade and in high school, I remember my English teachers assigning me annotations with "keys" where I would highlight important character details in one color and/or circle unknown words plus, various other signs. This acitivity was important to my reading because it helped me learn how to analyze texts that were difficult. Brainstorming maps
A big part of my MS and HS experience included making graphic organizers like, bubble maps for ideas, compare and contrast bubbles, and much more.
