Realism started in Moscow, by a Russian who was named Constantin Stanislavski. It started around 1850. There were Realism works published before this, but the idea and official start of Realism weren't until around 1850. Realism usually avoided the drama of normal novels, and stated the plain truth, whether right or wrong. It was a reaction to and a rejection of romanticism.
