Revolution of 1905 and the October Manifesto
This picture is of Bloody Sunday on January 22,1905 which marked the beginning of the 1905 Revolution. Illustrated the beginning of a violent phase to come in the Revolution, as industrial workers attempted to demonstrate in front of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg but were shot at and killed by the Imperial Guard. -

This is a picture of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne). He was assassinated on June 28,1914 by a citizen of Serbia. This triggered outrage, especially from Austria-Hungary, who declared war on Serbia on July 28, 1914, marking the beginning of World War 1. -
Czar Nicholas II take sole control of military operations
“All glitter is not always gold” is a phrase that means that although something may seem appealing, it may not turn out how you think. This is much like how Tsar Nicholas II thought it would be a good idea to take sole control of military operation in WW1 to boost morale, but it ended up having the opposite effects, leading to Russian military failures. -
The Brusilov Offensive
The Brusilov Offensive has initial successes for Russia including territorial gains and Austro-Hungairan casualties. However, it was overall a very costly offensive, with it being one of the deadliest offenses in world history. There were 500,000 Russian casualties. -
Assassination of Rasputin
This picture is of the logo for Tik Tok. Rasputin was a huge source of influence for Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina ALaxandra, much like a social media influencer. People did not like how much influence he had on the Tsar’s family and reign, so he was assinated by a group of nobles who feared his influence. -

This picture symbolizes what the protests on International Women’s Day were fighting for- “peace and bread”. This was due to the food shortages and unfair tsarist regime. This protest sparked the February Revolution of 1917. -
Provisional Government formed
This picture represents a period of change. The provisional government was the change that happened after Nichola II abdicated and was made during a large period of transition for Russia. It was made to oversee the transition of the democratic government and address pressing issues. -

The April Theses was almost like an action plan (as seen in the picture) for the Bolsheviks made by Lenin. It was like a series of plans that would ultimately lead to the goal of the Bolsheviks seizing power in Russia. -

This picture is of the actual first meeting of the All-Russian Congress of Soviet. The people in the congress overall were mainly a part of pro-government parties. -
July Days
This is a picture from one of the demonstrations of the July Days. The July Days were a series of these demonstrations in Petrograd where Russians voiced their issues with the Provisional Government. -
Kornilov Affair
This picture is of a paved road. The Kornilov affair was an attempted military coup against the Provisional Government. This affair helped pave the way for the Bolsheviks. -

This is a picture of the foundation of a house. Trotsky organized the Red Guard, which ultimately was the foundation for the Red Army, the strength of which was a large factor in the Bolshevik win in the Civil War. -
Bolsheviks overthrowing the Provisional Government and take control
Bolsheviks overthrowing the Provisional Government established a Soviet Socialist Republic. This was a shift in the established government of Russia, with the Provisional government not lasting very long. It also signified the influence of the Bolsheviks and Lenin. -
Cheka formed
The Cheka was established in December 1917 by the Bolsheviks to combat counter-revolution and sabotage. While the Cheka's official purpose was to fight counter-revolution, it quickly became a tool of repression, operating with broad powers and a high degree of secrecy. -
Constituent Assembly meets and is disbanded
This photo of a kid throwing a tantrum can be seen in the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly. The Bolsheviks did not get majority seats in the Assembly and deemed it unfair and went through great lengths and use of violence to get it disbanded, like a kid who would throw a tantrum if he didn’t get first place in monopoly, so the parent must let the kid win. -
Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
This money is being withdrawn to give to another person who is going to gain from the withdrawal. This can be seen in the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk as Russia is finally able to end their participation and withdraw from the war, while the Central Powers, specifically Germany benefitted as they gained territories and supplies. -
Wartime Communism created
This is a photo representing the world's economy. This picture relates to wartime communism being created as the term "War Communism" refers to the economic policies adopted by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War. -

This is a cartoon, illustrating the death of all opposition and enemies. This relates to The Red Terror as it was the official Bolshevik policy of extreme violence aimed at crushing all political opposition during the Civil War, led by the Cheka. -
Kolchak begins serious attacks against Reds from Siberia

This picture represents Kolchak’s serious attacks against Reds from Siberia as they launched a major offensive against the Red Army, aiming to overthrow the Bolshevik government in Moscow, but ultimately failed to achieve his goals. -

This is a picture of two men helping each other from one crazy man in the back. This can be seen in the Poles moving towards Kiev as this was a major campaign during the Polish Soviet War where the Second Polish Republic, in alliance with the Ukrainian People's Republic, aimed to seize territories in modern-day Ukraine from Soviet control. -
Soviets attempt to take Warsaw
The battle of Warsaw can be seen as a tug of war battle as Poland, who were facing overwhelming odds, managed to pull back and defeat the Russians, depicted by the right side beating the left side. The rope represents the struggle for Poland's independence and how it is trying to be taken away from them. -
Tambov Rebellion
This is a picture of a spacious and clean library. This photo relates to the Tambov Rebellion as it is known as one of the largest and best-organized peasant revolts against the Bolshevik regime, much like a library. -
Kronstadt uprising
This is a road with a big crack in the middle, separating the road into two pieces. This is seen in the Kronstadt Uprising as it highlighted widespread discontent with the Soviet regime's policies and the growing rift between Bolshevik leadership and revolutionary factions. -

This relates to ending of wartime communism as although wartime communism was a failure, Russia was able to move to something better such as the NEP. The NEP represented a shift away from the radical policies of War Communism and aimed to stabilize the economy -

This is a picture of two people shaking hands in agreement to a contract. This depicts the Treaty of Rapallo as it was an agreement between the German and Soviet Russia under which both renounced all territorial and financial claims against each other and opened friendly diplomatic relations. -

This relates to the formation of the Soviet Union as we learned about the whole process, starting with the October revolution of 1914 and forming right after the end of the Russian Civil War, just like the soil forming, there were lots of complications in between. -
Lenin Dies
Drawing of Lenin’s funeral as many stand and pay their respected to Lenin. This drawing illustrates the various emotions Russians felt due to his death. Some were in complete mourning, some were pleased, while others were unaffected. Lenin’s impact on Russia can be seen through this singular picture due to the flowers and number of people at his funeral.
