    Born into a wealthy family. He is the 2nd child of 4. As a child he suffered from many health issues. He soon became interested in the outdoors and exploration.
  • Named President when McKinley is assassinated

    Mckinley was shot twice by an anarchist. He seemed to be getting better but then one day he just died from gangrene caused by the wounds. At the time of the shooting Roosevelt was on vacation. He soon rushed to Buffalo. Just at 42 years old he became the youngest president. He was the 26th president.

    The coal strike was a major labor dispute that led to an energy crisis. Winter was around the corner so the coal supplies was decreasing. Mine owners refused to negotiate so he threatened the military. When the strike ends the wage increases and they work shorter workdays. This re-enforced Roosevelt's square deal.

    This was designed as the first national monument. Devil's tower was made from igneous rock and was consider sacred by Native Americans. The decision the protect the monument helped establish antiques.

    In April he went to Africa. His son and a group of naturalists and hunters traveled to East Africa to explore and enjoy the wilderness. In Africa he hunted many animals. After a year he returned to the U.S. and engaged in public life again.

Even though he didn't win his campaign helped bring may Progressive ideas in the future.
