Based on the Schuman Plan, six countries that were Germany, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands signed a treaty to run their coal and steel industries of common form. In this way the six countries could not make weapons to attack each other, as anciently would have happened. This union was called the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).

Basados en el Plan Schuman, seis países que fueron Alemania, Bélgica, Italia, Luxemburgo y Países Bajos, firmaron un tratado para gestionar sus industrias de carbón y acero de forma común. De esta manera, los seis países no podrían fabricar armas para atacarse entre ellos, como habría ocurrido antiguamente. A esta unión se le llamó la Comunidad Europea del Carbón y el Acero (CECA).
