This was one of the first engagements of the war, where a british force, with help from native Americans Tecumseh, used deception to scare a united state troop to abandon Detroit and give it to the Brits. This was a battle between the US and most Native Americans against the Red Sticks, part of the Creek tribe the opposed American Expansion. It was a decesive and dominant United States victory and it ended the Creek war. -
Burning of Washington D.C.
After a British win at the battle of Bladensburg, a British force, led by Major General Robert Ross, occupied Washington D.C. The troops burned many public places, such as the White House, and the Capital building. This was the only time since the Revolutionary War that another country has occupied the US Capital. -
Battle of New Orleans
Battle of New Orleans was the last major batthe of the War of 1812. The US led by Andrew Jackson, stopped an invading the invading Brits from taking New Orleans in a strategic manner to end the war. This battle occured after the treaty to end the war was signed but the news had not spread yet and this was the last battle, with 2439 British casualties and 333 American casualties. -

The Battle of Fort Sumter was the start of the Civil War, it was the bombardment on the Fort bu confederate troops that made the Union evacuate. No deaths occured due to the bombardment but it is known as the start of the War. -

Battle of Hampton Roads
The Battle of Hampton Roads was arguable the best naval battle of the whole war based on developmental purposes. This was the first battle between two ironclad ships, the USS Monitor versus the CSS Virginia. The battle was inconclusive, with both sides claiming victory. -

This was the first major battle of the Civil War to take place on Union Soil, in Maryland. It is the bloodiest single day in US history, with a combined dead, wounded, missing total of 22,717. It is another battle that is tactically inconclusive due to the vast number of deaths. -

This is probably the most famous battle of the Civil War, with the Famous Gettysburg Address after the battle by Abe Lincoln. This battle involved the most casualties in the whole war and is considered the Unions turning point of the war. -

US Declares War on Germany
The United States was a big influence all throughout the war before they declared war on Germany. They were helping the British with cheap guns and funds to make sure they would win. The US did not officially join until close to the end of the war and this war did not have a big effect on them. -
Selective Service Act
This was an act passed by congress that authorized the US to raise a national army for the war on Germany. It did this through compulsionary enlistment. It did not last and ended after World War 1. -
Espionage Act
This was an act put in shortly after World war 1 that was an act to help stop the people talking bad about the war. it was to help the recruitment of people in the war by not allowing them to interrupt their uncle sam speeches. -
Sedition act
This was an act to broaden the range of the Espionage Act and made it illegal to speak against the US plans on war. This was a real problem in the US as many thought it went against the freesom of speach and the act was repealed in december 13, 1920 -

This was an act based that required all men age 18-45 to register with the draft for the army. When the War started, the first peacetime act was enacted and it really struck the nation as most men were sent overseas to fight this war, with many thinking it was unfair. -
Pearl Harbor
This was a suprise attack by the Japenese on a naval base at Pearl Harbor which led to the US entry into the war. It was done as a prevented action on the US and it resulted in the loss of great US life. This is said to be why the US dropped the Atomic Bombs on Japan as payback for this attack. -
Normandy Landings
THis is the landing on the beaches of Normandy during World war 2. it is still the largest seaborne invasion in history. It led to the invasion of German controlled Western Europe. and was a main factor in the US victory. -
Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagaski
This was the US dropping two atomic bombs on civilian cities in Japan that resulted in at least 129,000 deaths. This remains the only use of nuclear weapons in warfare in history. many reasons are said as to why the US did this, many involve payback for Pearl Harbor, or even to scare the Russians leading to the cold war.
