Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights became part of the constituion on December 15, 1791, . The Bill Of Rights were the first ten amendments to the US Constitution. It gave the citizens freedom. "It guaranteeing such rights as the freedoms of speech, assembly, and worship." -
Louisiana Purchase
The Lousiana Purchase was a major part of history in 1803. Thomas Jefferson purchased a piece of land to expand but later turned out purchasing Lousiana entirley as Napolean had no interest in the land any more. He sold the land for a very, very, very cheap price. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
This was the first american expedition to cross the western protion of the United States. It Started on the Mississippi River and then westward through the continental divide into the pacific. Lewis, Clark, and Sacagawea were part of this journey. -
Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was a law that allowed the president to "negotiate" with the indians to move their trives away from the Southern United States in exhchange for their ancestral homelands. This turned out to be a disaster and a very sad part of history for the indians. The trial they walked was later called " The Trial Of Tears". -
Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears was the name of the path the sad Cherokee nation were forced to walk after they gave up their land to the United States. This occured after the U.S passed the Indian Removal law to use the cherokee land for their own purposes. This was a sad time in history for the Native Americans. -
Florida Becomes State
March 3'rd was a very special day for Florida. This is the day it became a state, the 27th state to be exact. Although it was not very popular back then. The state slowly began to grow of population and grow out of its " slave state " position. -
Mexican-American War
The Mexican-American war was fought between Mexico and the United States for the ownership of some territory. The United States ended up winning the ward and Mexico lost almost half their territory. Many Americans were very proud to expand the U.S. An interesting fact is that a Spanish soldier shot a American Soldier which was a spark that started the war. -
Transcontinental Railroad Completed
May 10, 1869, was one of the most important dates in history. The Transcontinental Railroad was completed. A long time dream for people in the American West. The Railroad was 1,776 miles long and took 6 years to build! Thats long!
