    Sarajevo, Bosnia, is visited by the Austrian heir apparent, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his spouse. Their car is targeted by a bomb, but it fails. Unfazed, they carry on with their visit, but a lone assassin shoots and kills them shortly after. Because the Austrians believe the murderer is a Serbian nationalist, they direct their ire at Serbia. The U.S stayed out of war because it had nothing to do with them.

    Germany is declared at war by Great Britain. All British Empire dominions, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, and South Africa, are required to abide by the proclamation. The U.S was neutral in this conflict, they wasn't supporting each side in the conflict.
