The German Blitzkrieg was Germany's strategy in the early stages of WWII. They did this strategy to avoid a long war. They were very successful until they faced Britain in 1940. -

This was a German assault on north-west Europe. This caused the fall of not only Paris, but also Luxembourg, Netherlands, and Belgium. -

Japan bombed the Pearl Harbor military base. Japan was angry because we embargoed them. The event caused the US to declare war Japan. -
Wannsee Conference
German government officials gathered in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee to discuss and coordinate the implementation of what they called the "Final Solution of the Jewish Question." It was to completely exterminate the Jewish population. It caused the death of over 6 million jews. -
The Battle of Midway
This day, Japanese aircrafts attack the US base on Midway. The Japanese wanted to remove the US as a Pacific power. The US caused the Japanese to eventually fold and retreat. -
The Battle of Stalingrad
It was a brutal military campaign between Russian forces and those of Nazi Germany and the Axis powers during World War II. This battle killed nearly 1,000,000 people. -
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
German troops and police entered the ghetto to deport its surviving inhabitants. By May, they had successfully deported the ghetto residents. -
D-Day
D-Day was the day the US invaded Normandy France. The US invaded Normandy to finally defeat the Germans. This put an end to the Germans rule. -
Liberation of Nazi Camps
This day, Soviet troops liberated Auschwitz concentration camp. Auschwitz was the largest Nazi killing center. The Jews greeted the Soviets as their liberators. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
In this event the US Marines invaded Iwo Jima. This battle lasted over a month on this island. This was one of the bloodiest battles in history. It cause 7000 US soldiers to die and 20000 were wounded. -
Battle of Okinawa
This day, US soldiers and US Marines stormed ashore at Okinawa, in the final island battle before an anticipated invasion of mainland Japan. Approximately 12,500 US men were killed. -
VE Day
On this day celebrations around the world happened to mark the end of WW2. Two surrenders by Germany happened on May 7th and 8th to mark the end of WW2. It happened because WW2 ended. The streets filled in major cities due to celebration. -
Dropping of the atomic bombs.
On August 6th and 9th, the US detonated 2 atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They did it to officially end the war on Japan. This killed nearly 246,000 people. -
VJ Day
This was the victory over Japan day. It happened because it declared victory over Japan. -
Battle of the Bulge
A German counter attack on the allies.Hitler hoped it would help defeat the allied powers. It cause many lives lost this day.
