The Third Estate votes to create a National Assembly, proclaiming the end to absolute monarchy and the beginning of a representative government. Three days later they made Tennis Court Oath , completeing a new constitution. This was the first deliberate act of revolution.

A large crowd was looking for gunpowder and arms entered the Paris prison Bastille. This became a French National Holiday known as Bastille Day.

National Assembly finished the new constitution and King Louis approved. This new constitution created a limited constitutional Monarchy, and a legislative body.

The legislative government declared war. This is because people were spreading their revolutionary ideas across Europe. Declared war on Austria and Prussia. They were mad that the ideas would enter their country.

The King dissolved the assembly and called for the election of a new legislature. The National Convention took office on this date.
