1948 War
Israel declared independence. Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, & Iraq attacked Israel. It ended with Israel having gained land. Egypt gained the Gaza Strip and Jordan gained the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Jews became refugees. -
Six Day War
Egypt blockaded Israel. Egypt, Jordan, Syria & Iraq moved troops to Israel's borders and made threatening statements. Israel launched a preemptive strike. It ended with Israel having captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, the Golan Heights from Syria, and the Gaza Strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. More Palestinians and Jews became refugees. Terrorism became more common. -
Settlement Construction Begins
Israel started building settlements on seized land, Limited construction size, Some people say that these settlements would hurt a future Palestinian state. This caused the Israeli army to strain itself in order to protect the settlements. It also made it harder for Palestinians to travel to the West Bank. -
Attrition Battles
Arab Countries & Israel were fighting. They met in Sudan, Arab nations didn't want to make peace. PLO started attacking Israel. Israel gained land from it's neighbors, and PLO was moved to Lebanon. -
The October War
Arab countries attacked Israel on Yom Kippur, Israel pushed back, and the USA convinced Israel to withdrawal. Many Israelis and supporters say that this is an example of why they need the extra land. -
Egypt and Israel Sign a Peace Agreement
USA engages in intense diplomatic efforts, Egypt reaches peace with Israel. Egypt ended up gaining the Sinai peninsula that they lost in previous wars with Israel. -
The 1982 Lebanon War
PLO attacks Israel, Israel attacks the PLO. Israeli troops moved PLO from Lebanon to Tunisia. This caused Israel to join in the Lebanese Civil War and they kept troops in Southern Lebanon. -

Palestinians rose up in occupied lands. Israeli army wasn't prepared, and they pushed back with large amounts of force. Many people though Israel was either too nice to the Palestinians, or too hard on them. -
The Oslo Accords
Israel and PLO signed agreement, PLO controls occupied Palestinian lands, Israeli military left Gaza and the West Bank. PLO/Israel announced formal recognition of each other, peaceful coexistence. -
Israel and Jordan sign a Peace Treaty
USA got Israel/Jordan to stop fighting one another. Jordan is the second Arab country to recognize Israel. Trade and business between Israel/Jordan increased drastically. -
The Camp David Summit
Bill Clinton met with Israeli and Palestinian Presidents in order to try and create peace. It was ultimately unsuccessful and the conflict continued. -
The Second Infitfada
Palestinians riot at Israeli General, great amounts of bloodshed. Israel and Palestinian Resistance fired at civilians. Some say it never ended, and the failed peace process ended with misery. -

Saudi Arabia offers Peace, Arab League agrees with them, proposed again in 2007. Arab League and Israel in talks of peace. -

Plan proposed by USA, Russia, the EU, and UN to end the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. End goal of two independent nations. Three phases were supposed to be implemented, but it never passed the first. Hamas was elected and ended peace talks, President dismantled Hamas majority in West Bank. -

The complete separation of Israel and the Palestinian land in Gaza, most Israeli civilians and soldiers left. The frequency of missiles being launched from Gaza into Israel has increased because of this. -

Hamas was elected because the previous government was thought of as corrupt, and Hamas didn't accept negotiations. Western Nations imposed sanctions on Palestine. They will be lifted if Hamas becomes more peaceful. -
The 2006 Lebanon War
Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel and kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers. Israel saw this as a perfectly good reason to bomb an entire city in a country that you're supposed to be at peace with. Many civilians lost their lives, and Lebanese infrastructure was damaged beyond repair. -
The Battle of Gaza
Hamas attacked the PLO in Gaza, and fractured the Pro-independence unity that they once had. Israeli president dissolved Hamas' political party. Hamas controls Gaza, PLO controls West Bank. -
The Gaza War
Israel began mass bombing of Gaza. They used drones to fire illegal chemical weapons into civilian hot spots because that's where they thought terrorists would be. They bombed hospitals and UN buildings. Many civilians died. -
