1948 War
Israel declared independence. Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and iraq attacked isreal. Isreal gained land from this. Egypt gained the gaza strip and jordan gained the west bank and east jerusalem. -
Settlement construction begins
Isrealis start to build settlements in the west bank and turn the 3,000 settlers into 300,000. It becomes and issue for the palistiniens and the future of the plaistiniens. -
The six day war
Egypt blockaded Isreal. Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq moved troops to isreals borders and made threatining statements. It ends on June 10th, 1967. Isreal captured the West Bank and east Jerusalem from jordan, the golan heights from syria, and the gaza strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. -
Attrition battles
During the 1967 war, Isreal gained land from egypt, Jordan, and syria. Egypt later sent small attacks on Isreali positons which continued until Anwat Sadat came to power. This lead to the PLO attacking Israeli personal, and civilians from bases in Jordan. The Jordan attacking the PLO and threw them out of the country. It ends in August 7, 1970 -
Yom Kippur
Egypt and syria Isreal on its holiest day of the year, Yom Kippur, but the isrealis hold it off. The Us asks Isreal to pull from the territorys they conqured in 1967, they later reclaim the territory. -
Egypt and Israel sign a peacy treaty
Egypt proposes a peace agreement, because staying in the state of war is hurting there economy. This agreement lead to the "Land For Peace" agreement. -
1982 Lebonon war
Israeli troops advanced as far as beirut and succeded in expleling the PLO leadership from Lebanon to tunisia. Israelis were buffer zone and prevented widepsread terrorist uncursions into israel. -
The First Infinada
Palestines in the gaza strip and west bank engaged in an uprising or Infinada.
Ended in 1993 Plaestinans used suicide bombings to kill citezens and the same amount of israelis died in plaestine. -
The Oslo Accords
The Oslo Accords was a set of agreements signed by Israel and P.L.O. However Israel and Palestine accused each other of not fulfilling their obligations. -
Israel and Jordan sign a peace treaty
Jordan and Israel sign a peace treaty. Trade, business and cultural exchange increased between the two countries. -
The Camp David Summit
Israel offered Palestine the West Bank. Arafat thought that wasn't enough, refused the offer and made no counter offer. -
The Second Intifada
Muslums went to a jewish temple claiming they wanted to help. This started the Second Intifada. There was a lot of bloodshed for both the Muslims and Jews. -
Arab peace Initiative is Proposed
Prince Abdullah proposed a peace initiative that stated palestine was to be recognized as independant and that the they get some of their land back.
Israel rejected the first real Palestinian peace proposal. -
Israel begins constructing the West Bank Barrier
A security barrier is built to seperate terrorists from citizens to prevent suicide bombings.
The barrier creates problems for commuters and seperates Palestine from Israel but does prevent bombings -
The Roadmap for peace is Proposed
The Roadmap for Peace was supported by the U.S.,Russia, Europe and the U.N. It suggested an independant Palestine.
However Hamas, a terrorist orginization, took over and stopped its progress. -
Israel Disengages from Gaza
Ariel Sharon went ahead with the seperation of Israel and Palestine. Israel withdrew from Gaza and Palestine was able to govern the Gaza Strip themselves. As a result Israel fired more rockets and bombs into Palestine. -
Hamas is Elected
Hamas is "elected" into power of Palestinian government. They conducted many terrorist attacks to destroy Israel and kill the jews. Western nations imposed sanctions -
The 2006 Lebanon War
Hezbollah attacked Israel, launching rockets and killing soldires. Hezbollah hid in neighborhoods so when Israelis snet air strikes and a ground offensive they damaged their infrastructure and killed civilians.
The war soon ended on August 14th the same year. -
The Battle of Gaza
Hamas attacked Fatah members in Gaza. Mahmoud dissolved Hamas government but Hamas still controls Gaza and Palestinian Authority controls West Bank -
The Gaza War
Israel attackes Hamas in Gaza. Hundreds of militants died and civilians aswell. Gazas buildings and economy were damaged as well. -
Gaza Flotilla Incident
Israel and Egypt set a blockade into Gaza. They inspected all goods going into Gaza to prevent terrorists. 6 Turkish ships were over thrown for disobeying this new blockade. After this Israel and Turkey's aliance deteriorated. -
Arab Spring
Arab states protested agaisnt oppresive government. Tunisian president left Tunisia and the Egyptian president resigned. The long term impact of the Arab Spring is still not clear.
