What are the decomposition rates of different items? -
materials
The materials that we used were wooden stickes, sleg hammer, rebar sticks, caution tape, shovles, apple, orange, paper, cotton, aluminum foil, regular chips bag, sun chips bag, and syrofoam. -
hypotosis
I think that the paper will decompose the most out of styrofoam, aluminum foil, sun chips bag, regular chips bag, apple, paper, cotton, and an orange. My approximent guess as a percentage of how much i think will decompose is paper 100%, apple 95%, regular chips bag 68%, orange 95%, sun chips bag 98%, styrofoam 0%, cotton 0%, aluminum foil 0% -
Procedure
We barried the items 8 to 10 inches deep on March 23rd. -
styrofoam
Posiblae was to reduse, reuse, or recycle styrofoam cups. You can not recycle styrofoam cups. Each year Americans throw away 25 billion styrofoam cups. To reduse the amount of styrofoam cups try to avoid using them. You can reuse styrofoam cups byrincing them out and pour a different drink in it. -

Aluminum foil
You can recycle aluminum foil by after using it recycle it with the aluminum cans. To reuse aluminum foil wash it after you are done using it and you can put it auond or on top some more food. Also, to reduse aluminum foil is to recycle it because when you recycle it you are reducing it at the same time. -

After we dug up the sun chips bag I saw that it decomposed 50%. My hypotosis was wrong I thought that it would decompose 98%. -

After we dug up the regular chips bag I saw that it decomposed 0%. My hypotosis was wrong, I thought that it would decompose 68%. -
apple
After we dug up the apple I saw that it decomposed 90%. My hypotosis was close I thought that the apple would decompose 99%. -
paper
After we dug up the paper I saw that it decomposed 10%. My hypotosis was wrong, I thought that the paper would decompose 100%. -
cotton
After we dug up the cotton I saw that it decomposed 0%. My hypotosis was right. -
orange
Afer we dug up the orange I saw that it decomposed 85%. My hypotosis was close, I thought that the orange would decompose 95%.
