The Hippocratic Corpus was written during the last decades of the fifth century BCE and the first half of the fourth century (the Classical period (may be known as the Hellenic period).

The Hippocratic Oath was written in Ionic Greek, possibly in the late fifth century BCE. Scholars strongly believe that Hippocrates himself or one of his students continued to write the Hippocratic Oath from the fifth century BCE to the third century BCE.

The 'bubonic plague' is the most common type of the plague to exist and can be caught if a rodent, such as a rat, bites you. This happened to reach Athens, and more specifically, reached Hippocrates.

A battle was held at the town of Leuctra, which decided the winner of the war.
