Founded in Boston, Massachusetts this school aimed to become the first school in America to provide education to those with vision impairments. American Association of Mental Deficiency (AAMD)
This organization was founded in order to promote the understanding and support of those with developmental disabilities. The roles of this organization are Dignity, Life, Equality and Respect for Autonomy. This association is now known as the American Association on Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. -

This society was founded by a small group of parents whose children were diagnosed with autism in 1965. The original name of this organization was National Society for Autistic Children. Mills vs Board of Education of the DOC
This case was brought to court by the families of seven disabled black children whom were declined public education by the DOC in Washington due to "lack of funding". In June of 1972 the courts ruled for those families students to have the right to a free and appropriate public education regardless of the level of severity of their disability. This created and promoted an inclusive setting for students with learning exceptionalities despite peak racism. -
Education of All Handicapped Children Act
This act instills that public schools need to provide one free meal per day for children with disabilities. Also that children suspected of having a disability must receive an unbiased and nondiscriminatory assessment to determine if they are eligible for additional support. -
IDEA Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
This law guarantees FAPE (free and appropriate public education) for ALL students with disabilities. This law also guarantees that early intervention services are available for infants and toddlers whose families are in need of such resources. It also requires that children with disabilities should be educated in the same classroom as their non-disabled peers to the greatest extent possible. -

No Child Left Behind Act
This is a law that motions in U.S. schools by holding schools responsible for their students' scholarly accomplishment through standardized testing, especially centering on disadvantage students. Also, the law aimed to ensure that all students, including those from low-income backgrounds, were receiving a quality education and making adequate yearly progress. NCLB requires that achievement standards are the same for all students, including students with disabilities.
