Devon comes home and breaks down, crying infront of his mother from how stressed he’s been about everything, but something she says lifts a weight from his shoulders. -

A flashback to when he was 10 years old, visiting his dad in prison for the first and last time on September 9th, especially the white shirt his father was wearing. -

During Devon’s visit to Dre, his ex-boyfriend, in prison, he learns that inmates wearing white are on death row. -

After talking to Dre, Devon asks the receptionist to visit his dad, and the receptionist tells him that his father recieved the death penalty on September 9, the last time Devon ever saw him. -
Chapter 34: Chiamaka, Pg. 460-465
Instead of meeting up at Devon's place like he and Chiamaka had planned, they go to Terrell's house and decide to tell the local news about Aces at Niveus and how other school are doing the same.
