Treaty of Versailles
A treaty made at the end of World War I forcing Germany to pay for expenses of the other countries and surrender much of the land it had taken and marked the end of the war. -
Hitler becomes chancellor.
Adolf Hitler is voted chancellor in Germany under President Paul von Hindenburg. Hitler wanted to bring Germany back to glory and united people against a common enemy. -
Burning of the Reichstag
An important building of the German government the Reichstag, was burned down and Hitler had pointed it to communists and convinced president Hindenburg to give him more power to control the situation. -

When Germany held an Olympics showing the world that Germany wasn't weak anymore since the treaty of Versailles. -
Germany invades poland
Hitler wanted Germans to live in Poland so he took their land and considered them an inferior people killing over 60000 Jewish and non-Jewish Poland people. -
Tripartite pact
A pact made one year after the start of World War II making Germany, Italy and Japan, allies. This pact was mainly made to scare America and keep them out of the war. -
Pearl Harbor bombing
Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii to try to keep America farther from them. This made America join World War II. -
Auschwitz gas chambers
Auschwitz was a concentration camps where the Nazis gathered and killed Jews. In Auschwitz, gas chambers were used to kill Jew instead of shooting and were considered one of the worst if not the worst way that the Jews were killed during World War II. -
Japanese internment camps
America had grown suspicious that Japan had spies in America giving them information. To prevent this internment camps were made where if you were Japanese you had to stay for the war so that you could be watched and couldn't get information out. Obviously many innocent people who weren't spies were taken as well which is what makes these camps a problem because many people also died. -
D day
When America stormed Europe to claim land (Normandy beach) to make a base. 4000 soldiers died but in the end America was successful. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
Us Marines and Navy had landed on Iwo Jima in hopes to capture the small island so that they had somewhere to set up closer to Japan and take it's two airfields. Many American soldiers were killed or captured and the island was heavily fortified by Japanese forces but on March 26 America had planted their flag and claimed it. -
Axis powers surrender
Also known as V-E day, Is when Germany surrendered to the allies shortly after Hitlers suicide. Leaving just Japan left against America and the allies. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings
America drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Which is not a military base but a city. Shortly after on the 9th Another atomic bomb is dropped on Nagisaki forcing Japan to surrender to make sure no more cities are destroyed. -
