Christopher Columbus
In October of 1492 Christopher Columbus, an Italian sailing for Spain found land west of Europe. He brought spanish conquistadores who sought riches and glory for Spain. Columbus claimed what is today the Southern United States for Spain. -

Alonso Alverez de Pineda
Pineda was the first European to explore the Texas coast. He sailed from Florida to Mexico along the coast. -
Feb 1, 1519
Hernan Cortes
In February of 1519 Hernan Cortes sailed from Cuba to the eastern coast of Mexico. He brought about 500 soldiers. -
Jan 1, 1528
Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca
Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecked on Texas and became the first European to enter Texas. -
May 1, 1539
Frey Marcos
In the spring of 1539 Frey Marcos claimed he saw Cibola, a city of gold. -
Jul 7, 1540
Francisco Vasquez de Coronado
On July 7 of 1540 Coronado was selected to search for Cibola.
Unfortunately he did not find Cibola he only found mud stone and angry Zuni warriors. -

Luis de Moscoso
Moscoso led his expedition to the Brazos river. They met native americans but found no riches. He led the expedition back to the Mississippi river. -
Corpus Christi de la Ysleta
Spain establishes the first permanant European settlement in Texas. -
Rene Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle
In 1682 La Salle led the first European expedition that navigated the Mississippi River south to the Gulf of Mexico. He claimed the entire inland region surrounding the Mississippi river and named the land Louisiana in honor of the French king Louis XIV -

Mexico wins its independence from Spain. -
THE ALAMO
The Alamo was a battle between Texas and Mexico in San Antonio, Texas. -
TEXAS DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
The Texas declaration of independence was on March 2, 1836. Ours was a little different than America's, but mostly the same. -
THE ALAMO ENDS
The Alamo ended and we lost, but we used it as inspiration in the next battle. -
THE BATTLE OF SAN JACINTO
This battle was a suprise attack from Texas upon Mexican forces on the San Jacinto river. -
TEXAS ENTERS THE UNION
Texas entered the US. -
THE TREATY OF GUADALUPE HIDALGO
This treaty ended the Mexican-American War in US favor. -
LINCOLN ARRIVES IN WASHINGTON
On this day, Lincoln goes to washington avoiding a threat to his life. -
THE CIVIL WAR BEGINS
The attack at Fort Sumter by the Confederates struck the beginning of the Civil War. -
THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION
On this day, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancapation Proclamation after 3 years of the bloody Civil War. -
ASSANATION OF LINCOLN
On this day, John Wilkes Boothe shot Lincoln only 5 days after the Civil War was over. Boothe was a Confederate. -
THE BATTLE AT PALMITO RANCH
This battle marked the end of the Civil War. Although the Texans had not lost a battle, the union had won the Civil War. -
THE TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD IS COMPLETED
The Transcontinental Railroad was completed, it was made to travel by train from the Pacific to the Atlantic. -
THE GALVESTON HURRICANE
The Galveston Hurricane hit Galveston and tore it to pieces. It had wind speeds of 145mph and was a category 4. -
THE SPINDLETOP GUSHER
The Spinletop Gusher was an oil well that gushed for days before capped, it had tons of oil. -
THE U.S. ENTERS WORLD WAR I
The U.S. declares war on Germany and enters WWI -

Japan attacks Pearl Harbor at night. -

The Atomic Bombing was in World War II. Attack against Japan after the Pearl Harbor Attack. -
ASSASSINATION OF JOHN F. KENNEDY
JFK was assassinated in Dallas Texas, driving in a Ford convertable. The killer was in a warehouse across the street shooting from the fifth floor.
