Henry's brother, Prince Arthur dies 20 weeks after marrying Catherine of Aragon; thus making Henry VIII the oldest living son of Henry VII and heir to the throne. He took over Arthur's responsibilities such as being the Duke of Cornwall, Prince of Wales, and Earl of Chester.

King henry executes Anne Boleyn, his second wife, in the tower of London on May 19th, 1536. *She was executed for incest and adultury, on top of forming a plot to kill the king.

King Henry marries Jane Seymore

King Henry marries Jane Seymore in the queens closet in Whitehall palace *Henry and Jane got married within 24 hours of Anne's execution
*Henry considered Jane as his only real wife.

Edward VI Born

Born to Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. He is Henry's only son to make it past infancy *His mother died of postnatal complications before Edward was 2 weeks old
*Was given his own troupe of minstrels
*Edward wrote a treatise that described the pope as the Antichrist
*Edward Seymour was his caretaker after his father's death
*Never was an actual ruler because he didn't reach the age of 18

Jane Seymore dies

Jane Seymore dies of the prolonging effects of childbirth on the 24th of October, 1537 in Hampton Court Palace. *She is the only wife that was buried with King Henry

King henry marries Anne of Cleaves

King Henry marries Anne of Cleaves on the 6th of January, 1540 in Greenwhich. *Henry realized that England was vulnerable and isolated, so he chose to be married to a position of power for alliances.
*King Henry sent out agents in foriegn courts to seek out a desireable bride for him.
* The alliance with the Cleaves didn't work out, but Henry was still forced to go through with the marriage.

King Henry divorces Anne of Cleaves

In July of 1540, Henry divorces Anne of Cleaves *by the time of the wedding, Henry was already looking for ways out of his mairrage.

King Henry marries Kathryn Howard

King Henry married Kathryn Howard on the 28th on July, 1540 in the Oatlands Palace *Henry and Kathryn got married 16 days after he divorce Anne of Cleaves.
*Henry was 49 and Kathryn was 19

Kathryn Howard is executed

Kathryn is executed on the 13th of Febuary, 1542.

• She was executed for cheating on Henry.

King Henry marries Katherine Parr

King Henry marries Catherine Parr on the 12th of July, 1543.

• She was very educated for a woman of that era
• She grew up in a household of only women, being that her dad died.
• She was 22 and Henry was 51 when they married
• She was widowed twice already when King Henry died

King Henry VIII dies from complications related to obesity and untreated type II diabeties.
