    The school was originally called the American Asylum for education of the deaf and dumb. It is now called the American school for the deaf. It is located in Connecticut.
  • Perkins School for the Blind opens in the US

  • Department of Special Education Created

    Department of Special Education Created
    Created by the National Education Association. This allowed people with disabilities to have their rights to education guaranteed. Many schools started training programs for teachers to become and get trained on how to be a special education teachers.
