The Industrial Revolution was a period of time (mostly during the 18th and 19th centuries) where machines were made, factories were opened and the world slowly industrialised itself. It started in Britain however eventually spread over Europe and North America. -
The Spinning Jenny
The creation by British carpenter James Hargreaves increased production of cloth by threading more than one yarn at a time. -
The Submarine
The Submarine was the first underwater vessel created. It was formed by David Bushnell. -

Sam Slater
Also known as "Slater the Traitor", he left Britain and spreaded the Industrial Revolution to the US. After many years and after he was a millionaire from his work in the US, he is now known as the Father of the American Revolution, -
Improving the Steam Engine
James Watt vastly improved Thomas Newcomen's Steam Engine. This made it more worthy to be used in ships and trains. -
Cook claims Australia's east
This was the day in which James Cook claimed the east side of Australia as British territory. -
The Boston Tea Party
Without actually being a tea party, it was actually a scheme to dump all of "East India" tea into the sea. This came after the ships refused to leave America without pay. -
The First Fleet
Approximately 8 years after Cook first claimed the East side of Australia, the First Fleet of ships docked in Botany Bay to form the first colony. -
The Cotton Gin
Eli Whitney was the one to create this machine which helped seperate cotton seeds from the fibres. This helped make money for many southern states. -

Isambard Kingdom Brunel
Brunel was an instrumental part of the progression and development of the Industrial Revolution. Creations such as the steamship and others make him one of the greatest inventors ever. -
No more Slave Trade
A law was formed which meant that slave trade was now illegal however slavery was still legal. -
Luddites
The first Luddites originated in Nottinghamshire in 1811. These were the people who were against the Revolution, prefering traditional ways. -
Railways for Transport?!
Before 1825, railways were used to transport goods and products. However, from 1825 onwards people were transported on trains, to a regular timetable. -
The Camera!
Alexander Walcott created the first ever camera in 1825. -
The "Rocket"
The Robert Stephenson's new invention labelled "The Rocket" was the most advanced technology of its day. -
Slavery Abolished
26 years after Slave Trade was abolished in Britain, slavery was completed banned by the slavery abolishment act in 1833. -
The GB Factory Act
An act was placed in 1833 to increase the working standards and safety standards in British factories. One major outcome of this act was the fact that children aged 9-13 must work equal to or less than 9 hours a day. -
Myall Creek Massacre
This was the first time where the murder of Aboriginal people in Australia by white settlers ended up in the white people being trialled and charged. -
The Mines Act
Formed in 1842, this act stated that from then on no child under the age of 10 shall work underground. -
The Telegraph
Samuel Morse was the mastermind behind what was the first telegraph in 1844. Within 15 years it could transfer messages miles across by wires. -
The Sewing Machine
Elias Howe was the founder of the machine which has affected making of clothes and decorations ever since its invention. -
French Industrialisation
In the late 19th century, France finally started industrialisation (except Normandy) due to the French Revolution which had just finished. -
Railways and Steamships in Australia
Because of the breakout of the Gold Rush around the middle section of the 19th century, ships and railways became alot more common so that more people could come to Australia in the hope of finding Gold. -

The Australian Gold Rush
Edward Hammond Hargaves found a piece of gold in 1851 which started a worldwide phenomenon which made over 800,000 people come here to mine for gold. It was at its peak in its first decade or two in the 1850s and 60s however the Gold Rushes kept coming until the 1930s where gold was found in the Northern Territory. -
Japanese Industrialisation
Because of the Japanese Samurai ruling Japan, until the USA intervened in the 1850s Japan was not industrialised however this changed when the Samurai were defeated. -
The Bessemer Method
Henry Bessemer found a method which allowed iron to be converted in to steel. This helped with construction and building methods -

Ned Kelly
A Victorian bushranger more known in Australia than anywhere else was a convict who was charged with murder and eventually hung. -
S.S. Great Eastern
The ship developed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel was launched in 1858, one of Brunels greatest inventions. -
Dynamite!
Dynamite is created by Alfred Noble, and is used to make roads and holes used for mining. -
The Brooklyn Bridge
The Bridge was the first major construction over water to transport people. It was in construction for over 13 years. -
The Australian Federation
This was the day which the Federation of Australia was formed. Edmund Barton was named the first ever Prime Minister. -

Known during those times as "The War to end all Wars", The Industrial Revolution impacted the war greatly, creating over half of the weapons and protection used by the two sides.
