Adolf Hitler was annointed as the leader of the Nazi Party. He promised to fix his broken country and get them out of debt from the war. He claimed German's were the superior race.

Benito Mussolini was appointed Prime minister of Italy. Like Hitler, he promised to restore order after the depression from the war.

Josef Stalin sole dictator of the USSR. Stalin turned the Soviet Union into a tolitarianism. He took high measures to have complete control of industy and agriculture.

Japan's army takes over Manchuria, China. The Leauge of Nations, which was supposed to ensure world peace, protested this but did nothing to help.

Hitler is named Chancellor of Germany. The great deppression had increase Hitler's popularity becasue of his promises, which he never kept. Once he was in office his power grew expontentially.

Neutrality Acts passed by US Congress in August 31st of 1935. This act promised the American people that the US wouldn't get involved in forign affairs.

The Italian Army invades Ethiopia Africa. Mussolini wanted to annex Ethiopia into the colony of East Africa that Italy created. Both coutries were part of the League of Nations, but the League of Nations could not do anything to stop Mussolini.

Hitler sent troops into Rhineland of Germany in violation of the Versailles Treaty. This is the first time that German troops have been in this reigon since World War One.

Militarist take control of Japanses Government. Japan can no longer make their own desicions.

Japan’s army pillages Nanjing, China; massacre a quarter of a million people. This is also known as the "Rape on Nanking." Hundreds of thousands of Chinese and disarmed soldiers were killed, raped, and looted by the Japanese.

Nazis begin rounding up Jews for labor/concentration camps.

Munich Pact signed giving the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia to Germany. The agreement was signed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy. The Sudetenland was of immense strategic importance to Czechoslovakia, as most of its border defenses were situated there, and many of its banks and factories were located there as well.

Nazi-Soviet Pact signed by Hitler and Stalin. Though he was hoping to acquire Poland without force, Hitler was planning against the possibility of a two front war. Hitler planned ahead since in World War One Germany's forces split and he didn't want that to happen again.

Nazis invade Poland; Britain and France declare war on Germany. This is the beggining of World War 2 because almost every country is getting involved.
