The number of people that can be successfully intergraded

The number of people that can be intergraded in Greece is not yet known. However, both the host community and the refuges are required to take simple steps in order to achieve a smooth integration. Both sides should be fully aware of each others' cultural background so as to avoid any feelings of xenophobia. In this way, the host society will aso be able to welcome refuges, and address specific needs.A welcoming environment should be created where both newcomers and locals can peacefully coexist.
  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The first step to consider is accommodation. Refugees should be offered safe shelter right from the beginning. This includes providing habitable housing with basic necessities and financial support. Successful integration means short-term housing provision and long-term strategies which will help refugees rebuild their lives and prosper. One great idea would be to repurpose buildings. Many vacant or abandoned houses could be utilized and offered to the refugees as initial ir permanent shelters.
  • The kind of entrepreneurship that can be developed

The kind of entrepreneurship that can be developed

There are many ways refuges could make a living in Greece. First of all, they could simply be employed in businesses where language is no barrier. For instance, in warehouses, building sites, loading trucks, cleaning positions, field work etc.Furthermore, if they were given a small financial boost, they could also open their own business. To facilitate this process, the government could simplify regulations, offer skills training and foster partnerships between refugees and host communities.
  • The ways Schools can help

    The ways Schools can help

Schools can help in a plethora of ways. First and foremost, they should raise awareness of the situation so that racism can be prevented throughout the host community. Schools should offer integration programs with intensive language courses by well-trained teachers. Older students should be encouraged to help younger refuge schoolchildren with homework and make them feel welcome and included. Finally, Psychosocial Support Programs can help refugee children who may have experienced trauma.
  • The potential benefits for local community

The potential benefits for local community

Refugees provide communities with numerous benefits such as economic, social and cultural ones. Not only can they contribute to the local economy, but they can also enrich communities.. Host communities will be introduced to new ideas and perspectives which will make them more open-minded and willing to unite. Refugees will also fill labor shortages or even employ locals in their own bussinesses. This will be achieved by language training, labor market integration and supportive policies.
