    Brown v Board of Edu. Ruling
    The case caused the questioning of the Supreme Court Ruling of Plessy v Ferguson and the "separate but equal" doctrine. It said that segregation in schools was inherently discriminatory.
  • Rosa Parks Arrest

    Rosa Parks Arrest
    The arrest of Rosa Parks is one of the most famous events of the Civil Rights Movement, it caused her to be tried in court for disorderly conduct and she tried for an appeal yet her trial was wasted in the racist courts of Alabama. It also led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott and even the ruling that segregation was unconstitutional.

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    A 381-day-long protest against using buses and public transportation because the companies owning them refused to respect their top users: black people. It brought light to the discrimination and it also helped lead to the ruling that segregation is unconstitutional.

    President Eisenhower signed the act to further protect the rights of the citizens. Eisenhower pushed this, yet the southern Democrats "watered it down" and did less to protect the citizens.

    The federal intervention showed how much the government would uphold its courts to keep citizens safe. After the governor sent troops to prevent the nine students from attending the school, going against the Supreme Court Decision.

    The protest where many simply went to lunch counters and sat as a form of non-violent protest. They wished to take up space, get people to listen to them, and get rid of segregation.

    The march was aimed to protest peacefully and receive little resistance because the participants were children. Yet instead, the police used firehoses and released the dogs on the children, which brought light to police brutality.

    Being an important local figure the murder of Medgar Evers caused shock to the local movements. It also showed the power of racism even though he, himself, predicted his early death and short life.

    16th St. Baptist Church Bombing
    The bombing showed how far the Klan would go to harm black people and the Civil Rights Movement, they used it as an intimidation tactic. The bombing caused the death of four innocent girls who attended the church and it caused the nation to see the true colors of racism.

    Signed by Mr. President Johnson, it banned discrimination and integrated public schools. It also job-application-discrimination illegal.
  • Murder of Malcolm X

    Murder of Malcolm X
    The assassination of Malcolm X by shooters who were associated with his former group, the Nation of Islam, caused many disagreements between the Black and Islamic communities. His life was cut short, preventing him from continuing support for Civil Rights and beginning bigger movements.

    This incredibly historic act squashed all forms of voting discrimination. Ending the voting silence of black citizens which affected the voting demographics and how the future presidents would have to campaign.

    The Black Panther Party is Formed
    This party caused many movements and ideas during the Civil Rights Movement. It was a nationalist and socialist-leaning group pushing for self-arming and the equality of the Second Amendment for self-defense. Malcolm X was involved in this group.

    Loving v Virginia Ruling
    The ruling of this case allowed interracial marriage and struck the laws banning it. The case was seen as a victory for all of America and all who love.
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination

    While relaxing on the balcony of his hotel, he was shot; dying so young caused the beginning of the end for a large part of the Civil Rights Movement. He was working so hard and getting so far yet because of hatred and racism his journey was ended.
