  • Monroe Doctrine

    America creates a document stating that any country (Aimed at Europe) that has a colony will not be tolerated. (First invoked in 1865)
  • Revolutions Across Europe

    Revolutions occurred in France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Austria, and more. All of these revolutions were caused by independence struggles or unrest with rulers.

    This was caused by Britain smuggling Opium into Chinese ports in exchange for tea. It ended with a treaty expanding Chinese territory.

  • Dominion of Canada Created

    Dominion of Canada Created

    The colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario are joined to create the Dominion of Canada. The reason for it being a Dominion and not a Kingdom is that the British were nervous that the freed US would convince the colonies to rebel.

    The Meiji Restoration was a period in which Japan gained a centralized Bureaucratic government, Constitution, a new transportation and communication system, an education system with no class restrictions, and a powerful army.
  • Suez Canal Opens

    Suez Canal Opens

    Connects the Red and Mediterranean sea. Called the "the pulse of Egypt" This allowed ships to pass through from London to Mumbai.
  • German Unification

    The new power brought balance to Europe and a rapid growth in an industrial economy, but it also caused an international unease in Europe.

    A conference with the goal of dividing up Africa.. with no African representatives present. Was divided over European countries, America, and the Ottoman empire.

    It was a Marxist adhering group of Social Democratic parties that fell after WW1. This group originally aimed for a socialist revolution but was absolved.
