These strategic Bombings are from British and U.S. bomber planes.600,000 Civilians died from them. this campaign was meant to destroy Germany's capacity to make weapons . the second goal was for the R.A.F. to use strategic bombing .this was to show the USSR that U.S. is helping and help us boost our moral. -

An Egyptian coastal city.Roosevelt wanted to invade it for two reasons.One It would give experience to the army, And two it would help the British fight Germans in Egypt. the British secured the Suez Canal and forced Rommel to retreat in November 1942. -
Battle of the Atlantic
German submarines went after 360 American cargo ships and oil tanks along the east coast because they were easy targets. Because of this the U.S. Navy set up the convoy system where the cargo ships are protected by war ships. In the spring American airplanes and warships have new technology to locate and attack German submarines turning in the favor of the Allies. -
Battle of Stalingrad
Stalingrad controlled the Volga River and was a major railroad junction. Adolf Hitler wanted to destroy the Soviet Unions Economy by cutting off their resources for the war. The German soldiers had problems like having to go and fight all of Stalin's troops and dealing with the cold. In November Soviet reinforcements arrived and surrounded Stalingrad, trapping about 250,000 German troops. they put Germany on defense. -
Battle of Kasserine Pass
General Dwight D. Eisenhower commanded American Troops and invaded North Africa. When the Americans went onto the mountains of western Tunisia, they fought Germany's army for the first time.Because of this, the Americans were outmaneuvered and outfought. about 7000, casualties and 200 tanks were destroyed. General Patton was put in command after another general was fired. American and British forces finally had the German troops in North Africa surrender. -
Casablanca Conference
Roosevelt went to Casablanca, Morocco, to meet Churchill. They agreed to set up a bombing on Germany. They decided this to destroy Germany's military ,industrial, and economical system as well as lowering the morale of Germans people . and to make Italy quit they invaded their "soft underbelly" island of Sicily. -
Allies invade Sicily
General Dwight D. Eisenhower commanded the invasion, with General Patton and British general Bernard Montgomery heading the ground forces. After eight days American tanks went through enemy lines and captured the western half of the island . In the south the British were attacking, and by Aug 17, the Germans removed themselves from the island.This created a problem on the Italian government, The king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel, decided to arrest Mussolini. -
German V.S. Allies fighting for Rome
German troops took control of northern Italy,Including Rome, with returning Mussolini to power. Soon after Germans set up positions near the heavily fortified town of Cassino. Cassino had difficult terrain to attack, so the Allies landed on Anzio, behind the German lines. for five months the aliens were finally breaking through Germany's lines at Cassino and Anzio. In May 1944 the Germans retreated. Soon after the Allies captured Rome. -

Roosevelt wanted to meet Stalin before the Allies invaded France. Stalin agreed and wanted Churchill Roosevelt meet him in Tehran. Stalin promised to be offensive against the Germans once the Allies invaded France. And for after the war Roosevelt and Stalin wanted to divide Germany to not have WW2 again.Finally Stalin agreed to help the U.S. with Japan and after the war accepted the proposal of the international peacekeeping organization. -

D Day part 2
Omaha Beach was surrounded at the ends. it was only 4 miles long with a 150 foot high bluff and 5 ravines. The Germans took full advantage of the terrain, building trenches, concrete bunkers, and machine guns pointed to gaud the ravines.General Omar Bradley leader for American forces, was going to back out, but American troops were able to get through defences and at the end of the day the troops were able to take over the beaches.
