    Following the Treaty of Paris, the American government in 1788-89 sought to attain the Indian Ohio land for US settlers. Little Turtle refused to secede land to the U.S. Resulting in the American government to build forts in 1790 inCincinnati called Fort Washington.

  • Treaty of Greenville 1795

    Treaty of Greenville 1795

    The Treaty of Greenville was signed between the United States and several Native American tribes after the U.S. victory at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. The treaty forced Native tribes to cede large portions of land in present-day Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois to the U.S. government. In exchange, tribes received goods and a promise of peace, but it marked the beginning of rapid U.S. expansion into Native territories and growing distrust between Native nations and the U.S.
