Battle of ironclads ends in a draw
A new wave of naval history had started when the Union's ship the Monitor and the Confederate's ship Merrimac ended a two-hour battle in a draw. Jefferson Davis was captured near Irvinville, Georgia and taken to Fort Monroe, where he was held prisoner. This was good fot the North because the Confederacy is now dead. image credit
