With Czechoslovakia being the first to drop the age in 1946. When the voting age dropped to 18 some people were upset and some were happy. People all had different opinions but I think that it was a good idea because once you are 18 you are practically an adult and should be able to vote for who you want to be president.

The World Trade Center is Completed

It was finished in 1970 which stand tall in New York city with the height of 1,368 feet and 1,362 feet. The complex opened on April 4th of 1973. The world trade center is also known as the twin towers, which reach almost 100 feet higher than the empire state building.

Cigarette Ads Are Banned On TV

Cigarette ads on TV and Radios were found to be breaking the Fairness Doctrine because when they were airing the commercials they would not give a fair amount of time to state that smoking was bad for you and the effects of it. In April 1, 1970 President Richard Nixon signed it into law. It wasn’t until January 2, 1971 when it was actually put into place banning Cigarette ads.

London Bridge Brought To The U.S

In 1967 The London Bridge was dismantled and brought to America. The London bridge is now located in Lake Havasu, Arizona, United States and was finished being reconstructed in1971. The total length of the bridge is 930 feet and is seen by many people.

Disney World Opens

Mark Spitz Wins Seven Gold Medals

Mark won seven gold medals in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games which was a great achievement only passed by Michael Phelps in the Olympics in 2008. Between 1968 and 1972 he won various medals including setting 33 world records. Terrorist attack at the olympic games in Munich

They eventually killed their team and demanded for them to let go 243 prisoners in an Israel jail. In the end of the huge ordeal eleven Israel athletes killed including coaches and a police officer. Eight Palestinians were killed during their attempt and three were captured and later released.

His parents received a note demanding $17 million dollars for his safe return; his parents did not believe this because Paul had always joked about staging his own kidnapping and getting money from his grandfather from it. His parents still did not give the money and a couple days later a lock of hair and one of Paul’s ears came into the mail.

National Speed Limit 55

This was a part of the Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act, in response to oil price spikes and supply distributions in 1973. Officials were hoping by doing this gasoline consumption would fall by 2.2% but only did by nearly 1%. Most states opposed this law which was later changed to 65 mph.

They ordered that they get $70 dollars of food to every Californian operation with a total estimate at $400 million dollars. Her father immediately gave $6 million dollars of food but the S.L.A claimed it be of poor quality. Later on April 3rd 1947 Patty claimed to be joining the S.L.A.Two days later she robbed a bank and was arrested with other members.

Girls Allowed To Play Little League Baseball

Many people believed that not letting girls play little league baseball was against women’s rights. Sylvia Pressler said “The institution of Little League is as American as the hotdog and apple pie," Ms. Pressler said in part of her ruling.” There is no reason why that part of America should be withheld from girls." Later in 1974 over 30,000 girls signed up for the softball program.

President Ford assationation attempts

A secret service agent grabbed the gun in time so it wouldn’t go off. Fromme was imprisoned with the attempt of assassination of President Ford. IN the same town seven days later Janette Jane Moore tried to fire at President Ford but a former marine grabbed the gun before it was fired and bounced off a wall and hit a taxi driver who was only slightly injured.

This Dye is used for food coloring, cosmetics and etc. This was used since 1976 when it was banned by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) because it was said it was a Carcinogen which is anything that can cause cancer. The FDA had approved the Red Dye # 2 many times before but finally realized it could cause cancer 1976 and banned the usage of the Red Dye.

Apple’s technology has progressed a lot in the many years it was launched and is now very famous and successful.

This disease was very serious and killed over 92 people.

New York City Blackout

The blackout caused looting, and vandalism between 31 neighborhoods, 134 stores were looted while 45 set on fire. 50 cars were stolen while 550 police men were injured and 4,500 looters were arrested. Many public places were closed down stores, and houses were broke into and many people were arrested in the end of the blackout.

First Black Miss Universe

The 24 year old Janelle Commissiong was the first black to win the Miss Universe crown. Janelle grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the U.S after staying there for ten years later she decided to move back to Trinidad and Tobago. After winning Miss Trinidad and Tobago she then was crowned miss Universe of the Dominican Republic in 1977.

Elvis Presley’s death was an unexpected loss at age 42 of heart failure.

Reverend James Warren “Jim” Jones was the founder of the People’s Temple who were responsible for the Jonestown massacre. It was a mass suicide of 909 Temple Members along with five other people nearby. Over 200 children were killed and almost all of them were forced to ingest cyanide. This incident marks almost the largest mass suicide in history.

The Greensboro Massacre

The protestors were a part of the Communist Workers Party to organize mostly black industrial workers in the area. Police were usually present in these kind of events but at this one they were nowhere to be which was why they got away with it killing five protestors at the Greensboro Massacre.
