The Mongolians invade Northern Song Dynasty under the rule of Genghiz Khan.

In Spring of 1206, Mongolian leader Genghiz Khan founded the Mongol Empire after conquering the northern Song Dynasty. (Will take nearly 70 years to couquer the south) He gets rid of the civil service system. However, he allows the people of China to continue living their lives but they had to pay tribute regularly.

Under the rule of Ogedei Khan, the Mongolians invades Korea destroying everything in sight, including the precious celadon vases. The making of these celadon vases is unknown.

Genghiz Khan's grandson takes over. He adopts a Chinese name for his dynasty, Yuan Dynasty.

He rules all of China, Korea, Tibet, and Vietnam.

The Italian merchant Marco Polo, his father and uncle, cross Persia and Central Asia to get to Mongolian controled China. He stays for 17 years. He writes a book of how China is,back to Europe, which brings interest to the Europeans.

Japan had refused to be ruled by the Mongalian Empire. This didn't set well, therefore the Mongols perpared for an invasion but a typhoon wrecked many ships.

The Mongols try again with a bigger force but the invasion was a fail again when a typhoon destroyed much of the Mongol fleet. The Japanese believe this is because of their prayers to the kamikaze, divine winds.

After the death of Kublai Khan, the Yuan Dynasty began to collapse. 74 years later, the Ming Dynasty is established by a pleasant leader Zhu Yuanzhang. He lead a rebel army that pushed the Mongols back beyond the Great Wall.

The Korean general Yi Song-gye organizes the Chosen Dynasty, also known as Joseon. He sets up a goverment based off of Confucian ideas.

The Chinese make the very famous "Ming Vases" under the Ming Dynasty.

Zheng He departs for China with 62 huge ships and various small once on the quest to promote trade and collect tribute from smaller powers.

King Sejong of the Chosen Dynasty replaces the diffcult Chinese alphabet, with hangul, an alphabet using symbols to represent the sounds of spoken Korean. This made it easlier for Koreans to write and increase the literacy rate of Koreans.

Japanese leader invaded China though Korea. Japanese raided and looted Korea, until, an Korean admiral Yi Sun-shin used metal-plated, also called “turtle boats.” When they finally left Korea, they took Korean artists back to Japan to teach the skills to Japan.

Li Yuan, general under Sui Dynasty and his son Li Shimin defeated all rivals and established the Tang Dynasty. Li Shimin took the crown after his old father stepped down, renaming himself Tang Taizong.

The Han Dynasty emperor Wudi invades Korea and sets up military bases there. During this time cutural diffusion happen, as Chinese goverment ideas, Confucian traditions, and others speaded to Korea.

During the Silla Dynasty, (57 B.C.-935 A.D.) Korea became a tributary state of China, keeping it's own independence, while acknowledging Chinese superior.

The Shilla kingdom united the Korean peninsula with the help of Tang empress Wu Zhao.

Confucian ideas begin to affect the Korean society. Women are given less rights. Like before, women could own or inherit land, women can no longer own land. Also civil service examination was only qualified for aristocrats to take.

After the decline of the Tang Dynasty, Japanese interest in China begins to fade. Japan turns away from their model in Nara and spends the next 400 years to changing and modifying the Chinese culture that they have absorbed for years.

Emperors and wealthy court families live in the Capital Heisan. Appearances were important and beauty and etiquette matter because the court was elegant. Men studied chinese, while women were forbidden to learn the language, but some still did in secret.
