  • Kindergarten Writing Journal

    Kindergarten teacher had my classmates and I journal in kindergarten. I had a slew of entries made which are wonderful to look back on. We also colored in them, which I like to think gave me a "colorful" view on writing. Inspired me to enjoy reading and writing throughout the years.
  • "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Numeroff

    1st grade teacher Mrs. Johnston had this book in her classroom. Still is an all time favorite of mine a sparked an appreciation of descriptive writing.
  • "Junie B. Jones" Series by Barbara Park

    2nd Grade Teacher, Ms. Greenis introduced my 2nd grade class and I to the "Junie B. Jones" Series. Furthered my love for reading and writing.
  • "When You Reach Me" by Rebecca Stead

    Read favorite book of all time, "When You Reach Me" by Rebecca Stead. Inspired me to read at higher levels.
  • "Wanna Buy an Alien" by Eve Hunting

    4th grade teacher Ms. Quenneville introduced my class and I to this book. We all had to do a project on it which I created a video taped advertisement for the book. I had a lot of fun making it, further tied fun to reading for me.

    "Hunger Games" Series by Suzanne Collins

    I started reading "The Hunger Games" Series in 6th grade. It was very popular at the time and was being sold in the book fair. Book fairs were my favorite and strengthen my love for books.

    "Maze Runner" Series by James Daschner

    My 6th Grade teacher Ms. Lenardo introduced me and my class to the "Maze Runner" series. Inspired me to finish the series and continue my reading journey.
  • "The Odyssey" by Homer

    9th grade teacher Ms. Burt introduced my class and I to "The Odyssey" which inspired me to look more into Greek Mythology in High School.
  • "To Kill a Mockingbird" By Harper Lee

    "To Kill a Mockingbird" was first introduced to me by my 9th grade teacher Ms. Burt. Being a black student, it allowed me to tie the concept of classic literature to modern day problems.
  • "Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain

    10th grade teacher My. Meyers introduced my class and I to "Huckleberry Finn" which expanded by love for descriptive writing.
