Beginning of Hilter's reign
In January 1933, Adolf Hitler became chancellor, Leaving him and the Nazi party in power in Germany. This was only the beginning of the Holocaust, Hitler made German Jews outcasts and targets for violence. -
Participates of the Holocaust
Nazis weren't the only people taking part in the execution of Jews. They were accompanied by the SS(stormtroopers) and the SA(protection squadron). The SD, Gestapos, Criminal police, and Order police also took part in the mass murder. Even regular citizens participated. They didn't join physically but they cheered as Jews were beaten to death. Germany's allies took part in the holocaust by rounding up Jews, deporting them, etc. -
Expansion of Nazi Persecution
In 1938-1939 Hitler and the Nazis spread throughout Europe bringing millions of Jews under their control. They added German territory to Austria, Sudetenland, and Czech lands. This helped them control most of Europe. Nazis also made alliances with different governments to expand further. -
Final Solution
This was the ultimate decision of the conflicting murder of European Jews. Many Jews were killed from June 1941 to August 1945. The main two ways were mass shootings or Gassing operations which were held in killing centers or mobile gas vans. The mass shootings started small and just killed Jewish men but eventually grew and became a popular way to execute any Jew. Over 1,500 towns were affected by the shootings which took a toll on the population. -
Creation of Concentration Camps
The Nazis decided to build a special building complex specifically for killing Jews. 'Extermination' or "Killing" camps they called them. There were 5 killing centers in total killing at least 2.7 million Jews of all ages. If the Jews didn't die from the camps they died from the poor conditions they were in. And if they did survive the train ride to the camp they were killed almost immediately upon arrival. -
Victims
Jews weren't the only victims during the holocaust. Although Jews were the MAIN targets, they also went for people they saw as threats such as the health, unity, and security of German people. Political oppositions were targeted along with Jehovah's Witnesses. These groups of people were also sent to concentration camps. People whose activities seemed harmful or opposed a ''threat'' were sent. Disabled people, criminals, beggars, prostitutes, pimps, etc were also killed. -
Jews lives in the Ghettos
The large population of Jews would be sent to the ''Ghettos.'' Where they were forced into labor to make money and support the German war effort and administration for the ghettos. The ghetto life was miserable, with poor sanitation, limited supplies and food, and medical care. Diseases went around killing them but they also died from extreme temperatures, being beaten by German soldiers, being shot, tortured, etc. In 1942 German soldiers and their allies killed the Jews in the ghettos and left. -
The end of Terror
The end of the Holocaust. German allies defeated Germany in WW2 and raided Germany overrunning concentration camps freeing Jews and having a "Death March" forcing Jews and non-Jews to walk on foot. Although they were freed they still didn't feel free. On April 30th, 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide which made German soldiers surrender. They were trailed and all put to death. In the West May 7th and in the East May 9th, 1945 the holocaust ended officially along with the end of WW2 in Europe.
