The Proclamation of 1763, was put in place by George III where it was banned to establish yourself in the west of Appalachians Mountains, south of Hudson Bay, and north of Florida because it was for Native Americans. The colonist response was that they were angry and some would go into the areas of the Native Americans which caused battles.

The Sugar Act of 1764 banned imported rum, a form of liquor from other countries. As well as taxing on wines, and silks. The tax on molasses was cheaper so that liquor from other countries wasn’t transported. British warships in the waters of the Americans would search suspicious people. Some colonists would state that the act went against their rights. Others would boycott and protest.

This act gave Parliament the power over colonial money where no new bills or money would be made and replacing it with British sterling. The colonial response was protests opposing the act.

The Stamp Act placed taxes on numerous items like cards, dice, papers, pamphlets, calendars, newspapers, vellum, parchment, warrants, bails, petitions, bills, and licenses. The colonial response to this act was the Stamp Act Congress where they said that having a tax without a representative went against their rights.

The Quartering Act made the colonists provide soldiers with shelter and food. Colonists were not happy because they had to spend money on the soldiers when they already had to pay taxes.

The Declaratory Act is a document that gives power to the Parliament to make laws for the colonies. Most colonists looked over this act because of the Stamp Act being repealed but the ones who knew about the Declaratory Act were mad that they still had no representation.

The Townsend Act had colonists pay an import tax on internal items like glass, tea, lead, oil, paint, and paper. A colonial response, John Dickinson wrote in the Letters of a Pennsylvania Farmer where he stated that Parliament can have command over trade from higher power but not on taxing the colonies on both internal or external goods. Other colonists would make their own clothes and paper to not buy anything that was taxed and instead make their own.

In the Boston Massacre, British soldiers had opened fire upon a group of boys throwing snowballs at them resulting in five boys ultimately dying. The colonial response was that they saw this event as a massacre and saw the soldiers as murders. It even led to a famous painting called the bloody massacre.

The East India Company had made the price of tea very cheap which made smuggling not possible and could make it go out of business and trade. In response, the colonist traders dressed as Mohawk Indians to pour a large amount of tea in Boston Harbor so that they would be independent and not buy what was taxed.

After the Boston Tea Party Parliament decided to close the Boston port until the damages of the tea was repaid and they banned meetings that did not have the governors agreement. In response, the delegates who were part of the colonies met in the First Continental Congress to express their dissatisfaction to the Intolerable Acts.

The Quartering Act made the colonists open their homes to British soldiers and provide them shelter and food. The colonials response was anger towards having to take care of these soldiers and they thought it was violating their rights.

This act enlarged the borders of Quebec towards the Ohio River. The act also gave some recognition to the Catholic Church so that the catholics and Indians in the church have rights. Colonists saw this act as a threat to their government in the colonies and the freedom they have.
