    This was a major battle that ended in an even bigger victory for the Americans. It convinced the French that the Americans could win.

    The battle of Yorktown was essentially the skirmish that ended the whole war. Some say there were still small fights, but it's widely accepted that this was the end. The French helped and lent a navy, the Americans cornered the British General, which was a sound victory.
