Henry VII wanted to affirm is alliance with Spain so he offered his young son Henry to Arthur's widow. The two families requested that Pope Julius II officially grant dispensation to Arthur and Catherine's marriage. The pope conceded, but the official marriage of Henry and Catherine was postponed until the death of Henry VII in 1509, when at the age of 17, Henry married Catherine and the two were crowned at Westminster Abbey. They remained married until he divorced her in 1533.

King Henry VIII was in a very tough position in his life when he wanted to break away from the Roman Catholic church. Henry wanted to have a boy so that someone would take his place as king when hi is older. However, the church would excommunicate him if he were to allow divorce as a king. So, he wanted to break away and create his own so that he could go find any woman he wants that can give him a boy.

Anne Boleyn married King Henry VIII the same year that he divorced his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. When Anne was younger, she spent part of her life growing up in France. She ended up loving France along with their art, music, and clothing. When she grew up King Henry broke away from the church to marry her. This would now be his second wife. King Henry VIII secretly married Anne because he tried to cover up any questionings of why Anne was pregnant. He didn't really want to marry her, so he never condsidered it an official marriage, and thought he could marry anyone he wanted.
