This act is important to education because it provides funding to so many important issues that educational facilities need. It provides funding for students who need additional support in any circumstances, helps provide free and reduced lunch to students, and even helps low income families afford high-quality education for their child. -

This case in the 1970's was important to special education because it challenged the constitutionality of excluding people with disabilities from public education. The court ruled it is unconstitutional to deny people with disabilities from a free education. -

Vocational Rehabilitation Act (VRA) is an act that is detrimentally important to special education because it defines appropriate education and handicapped person. This act also forbids discrimination against students that have disabilities in federally funded schools and programs. -

This act is important to special education because it funds states for providing for exceptional learners, provides funds for gifted and talented programs, and grants families and students due process in special education placements. -

This Act requires states to give free and fair education to children that have disabilities. This act is also amazing because it establishes a early intervention program for young children that have disabilities. -

This case helped students with behavioral issues. It is important for special education because it ruled that educational facilities could not expel students for behavioral issues due to their disability. -
Americans With Disabilities Act
This act is extremely important to special education because it protects equal opportunities for people with disabilities tremendously. This act prohibited discrimination against people who have disabilities in private sectors and even redefined disability to include people who have AIDS. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
This act is important to special education because it made it standard to use people-first language and added two new categories of disability:autism and traumatic brain injuries. This act also required states to have bilingual education programs for students with language disabilities. This act also reinforced confidentiality and due processes for families and students. -
Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA)
This act was extremely important to special education and for people who have disabilities because it increased federal funding to provide early intervention for students who are still in tier one (general education classrooms). This act also raised standards and the protocols for special education licenses. IDEIA also supported using RTI models and helped eliminate short term objectives for students. -
Every Student Succeeds Act
ESSA was a replacement for the No Child Left Behind Act in 2002. ESSA is an educational act that provides equal opportunity for all students. This act limited federal involvement in education and left the states and local levels to be more involved to determine where they set their educational standards. A main goal of ESSA is to prepare all students regardless of disability for college and life after graduation.
