The First Crusade was marked when Pope Urban declaired the retaking of the Holy Land. Thousands of Christians signed up because the Pope promised all sins would be forgiven if they fought to reclaim Jerusalem from the Muslims.

The Knights Templar is a group of christians recruited by the church to protect the crusaders journey to the Holy Land. They were organised as the warriors of the church protecting Gods word.

The second crusade was sparked when Muslims took over a crusader state Edessa, which was founded during the First Crusade. Again the crusaders packed their bags and fought in the Holy Land. This crusade ended up a failure in the long run.

This crusade started after the recapture of Jerusalem. Saladin the Muslim leader united the muslim world and took Jerusalem from the Christians and they wanted to take it back. The Christians took many important battles, but in the end the muslims maintained Jerusalem under their rule.

The Fourth Crusade started after an agreement between Venice and the crusaders to sack Zadar over money which Zadar owed ot Venice. This went against Pope Innocent lll request and marked the first time Christian crusaders attacked a Christian city. During the Fourth Crusade Constantinople was sacked and was deemed the fall of the Byzantin Empire.

The Magna Carta was a document that limited a rulers power. This sheet of paper marked one of the only times a ruler thereselves limited there power. The Magna Carta was created because of the dislike of King John of England and the rebels that were in the kingdom at the time. When King John died his son changed it to be less radical which lead to Englands Statue Law.,

The last major crusade in many eyes this marked the end of the Holy War. The crusade was going well for the Christians winning many battles, but troubles back in Europe had the Crusade leaders pushing back. The crusading spirit that was once there was now gone and the remanding crusaders picked up and left after the capture of the last crusader forts in the Mediterranean.

Marco Polo was a famous explorer who traveled through Asia specifically China were he was killed. He created a book that recorded his travels and inspired many explorers like Christopher Columbus. His travels created new trade routes between Europe and Asia that wasn't there previously.

This was a struggle between England and France that had a span of four war periods that lasted in total 116 years. The war was fought over the dominating position in their region of Europe.

The Black Death was the most devistating disease during the Middle Ages killing 20-40 precent of Europe in the first year of the outbreak. In the plagues span it killed an estimated 50 percent of Europes population. The plague was brought from Asia carried by rats in trade caravans that traveled to and from Europe.

Joan of Arc a Christian woman that had a message from god was on a mission to end The Hundred Years War. She won the battle at Orleans that helped France win the war over England. She was then put to trail on false counts and was burned at the stake, years later she was declaired innocent and was named a martyr and a saint.

Christopher Columbus a Italian born explorer discovered America for Spain after his home country wouldn't fund his trip. He took three ships across the Atlantic Ocean and came across a land not descovered which is modern day Americas. He declaired the land for the Spanish. His discovery lead many other explorers to come to America and fight over the land. He is known as the founder of America, but at that time people didn't know that Vikings have already discovered the lands many years before.

The Renaissance period begins in Europe. It marks the end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance was a term coined by Petrarch which means a rebirth od classiscal Greek and Roman ideals.

The Sui Dynasty in China created a sense of unity that has been absent in China for almost 400 years. This Dynasty unified the whole of China and created a super power during that time.

The Arab army now vast has the power to take over what was the remander of the eastern Roman empire. The Arab army took Jerusalem in 638, then went on to take Alexandria in 643. After they took Alexandria they moved on to siege Constantinople in 674. The siege failed the tried once again in 718, whch also failed. Before the second siege the Arabs took Carthage in 698.

This movement took place in the Catholic Church, the people of the church spread the word to end conflicts that were unnecessary in atemp to stop fighting. The movemnt was to control the society in non-violent means.
